Procurement Intern

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Intern to join our team for a 6-month internship, with the option to extend for one year. This role offers hands-on experience in supplier evaluation, market research, spend and cost analysis. The intern will collaborate closely with our procurement and supply chain teams, contributing to data-driven decision-making and identifying improvement opportunities across procurement operations. This position is ideal for those interested in developing their analytical skills and gaining a deeper understanding of procurement practices and strategy.

What Will Your Role Be?

  • Support Procurement Operations: Assist in day-to-day procurement activities, contributing to procurement process efficiency and supporting inquiries related to orders and invoices.

  • Price Benchmarking and Cost Analysis: Compare supplier pricing to industry standards and support negotiations by identifying cost-saving opportunities.

  • Data Management and Procurement Analytics: Maintain and update procurement databases, organizing supplier and order information for streamlined reporting. Utilize tools such as Excel or PowerBI to create reports and visualizations on spend, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Supplier Evaluation and Risk Assessment: Support the evaluations of supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost, and identify potential risks and improvement areas in supplier management.

  • Market and Price Research: Conduct research on market trends, price changes, and potential suppliers to provide insights and support sourcing decisions.

  • Contract Compliance and Reporting: Support in analyzing contracts for compliance, tracking terms, and maintaining a database to ensure effective lifecycle management and searching opportunities for renegotiation.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within procurement activities, participating in projects to enhance efficiency.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders across departments (finance, supply chain, sales) to align procurement activities and communicate insights from procurement analyses.

  • Participation in Team Meetings: Attend procurement and cross-functional team meetings, providing insights and participating in discussions aimed at continuous improvement.

Who Are You?

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of procurement principles, cost analysis, and supplier management; familiarity with inventory or logistics is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; PowerBI or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.

  • Analytical skills with an ability to interpret data, evaluate supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Good organizational and communication skills, with an attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Willingness to work onsite in our Amsterdam office.

  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
