The first 24-hour Hackathon for the BMS Engineering Teams
On 3-4 November, we hosted the B | Hackathon, our first 24-hour Hackathon for the entire BMS Engineering organisation.
The goal of the event was to develop an innovative and creative product or tooling working prototype (data product, data analysis, IDE plugin) that will move our clients, developers, managers, resellers, and integrators towards sustainable data-driven mobility solutions. Beyond that, we just wanted to bring everyone together, challenge ourselves a bit and of course, have fun!
9 teams, 9 projects, 32 participants, and 24 hours of fantastic teamwork!
We saw different working styles across the teams. Some gathered for regular check-ins, stepping away from the computer for a much-needed break to discuss their findings and status, while others began the day mapping out the plans, aiming to stick to a regimented schedule to keep them on track.
Whatever the method, the one thing in common was that they had hours without proper sleep while coding and teaming up.
Immediately after the grueling 24 hours, at 09:00h CET on Friday 4 November, we hosted the Demo Presentations, during which all teams presented their project results. Following that, the jury, other participants, and colleagues from the Engineering and UX teams voted on the best projects and thus selected the winners. Finally, to help bring the event to the entire organization, we held the BMS Hackathon Stand Up Event, where the winners shared their hackathon projects and experiences.
Many thanks and big applause to all participants and everyone involved in the event. And of course, congratulations to the winners!
Well done everyone and hope to see you in a new edition next year!
